Inverting the art of diving, Pell's helmet is filled with saline. Her body remains in open air. She controls gag reflex & meditates on the ocean to prevent drowning.
Petrification, ARC Biennale AU 2005
Pell is submerged in a human-scale Petri dish. Her body set in a gel medium. English amplifies the aquatic acoustics. Dissolving solution stes her free.

Using a hand-made bio-shaped oxygen re-breather, Pell walks from the Indian Ocean, along a submarine slip and into the WA Maritime Musuem.

Suction-sealed inside a 45cm dome with 16 minutes of air, Pell mobilises and dances until a) air depletes, b) poisoning occurs, or c) 45 mins go by.
